Who We Are
Spouses Trailing Under Duress Successfully (STUDS) is a loosely organized men’s group whose members, in most instances, have come to London because of their wives job transfer. STUDS members organize various social events that include monthly luncheons at various restaurants and pubs around London, museum tours, pub walks, golf outings, cocktail parties and more. The group also arranges activities with the wives so that the working spouses can meet other professional women in London. Founded in 1999 by five gentlemen who gathered for lunch at a member’s home, the group now lists over 40 men on its roster. The members are mostly from the United States but the group also has members from Canada, Australia, Great Britain and France. The name STUDS is taken from the first STUDS group formed in Brussels in 1994. Today, there are STUDS chapters in London, France and Belgium.
Who Can Join?
Membership is free and open to men from all nationalities. While almost all of the members do not work (having either retired or put their own careers on hiatus) the only criterion for membership is to be able to participate in weekday events that occur during the day.
